Blood Centers are may need to operate plasma collection sites in remote areas without access to the primary blast freezer. PlasmaRoam20 makes this possible from a battery powered blast freezer that can deploy in the field. The unit can also transport up to 12 units of plasma and maintain the core temperature from a battery.

The units can be carried or optional wheels and carts can be added to more easily move the units around. The Dolley Trolley units are durable platforms with heavy-duty wheels that can wheel the units over a variety of surfaces. Carts are also an option if you need additional space for storage.
From a financial perspective, you would need to think through the waste caused by Igloo Coolers resulting in destroyed plasma and blood, plus the cost of dry ice, ice packs, and labor procedures associated with preparing every shipment. With a Roam unit, you know that temperature can be maintained as long as the unit has access to battery or wall power. An onboard temperature logging system allows you to know that units have maintained temperature allowing you to return to inventory in the event the product is not utilized.
Roam units are in multiple sizes allowing storage of 300mL blood bags in units ranging from 8 units to 240 units. If you need more than 240 units stored, then you should move to traditional storage refrigerators that are not portable.
No, you will need to select which you want when you order. Freezers have a different refrigerant gas so we have to get that installed at our plant in San Diego. If you order a Freezer however, it can function as a refrigerator if you want.
