The Roemer Industries team traveled to Ghana on February 23, 2017 to donate our mobile, battery powered refrigerators to medical facilities in need of our portable cold storage products.
Our team joined a mission group to provide support to several villages in Ghana where people lack pure drinking water, hospitals, sanitation and a good quality education. We outfitted two medical clinics with our ROAM15 (15-liter) portable medical refrigeration units. These units will be used to store blood and vaccines for the villagers. The size of each clinic is approximately 800 sq feet and services over 8,000 residences. Since blackouts are a common feature in this area, we installed solar panel kits and battery backup systems to power the units.
A 110-watt (charging time 5 hours/day) or 300-watt (charging time 3 hours/day) solar panel can power the refrigerators indefinitely. Our battery backup system will run the units for up to 48 hours in the event of a power outage which is a tremendous relief for the medical staff to not have to worry about these power outages destroying blood and vaccines that have been donated.
The team also set up make shift clinics to render medical care to over 160 people a day. A local family offered to set up a clinic in their home for the last three days of the trip to help treat surrounding villages. Our medical team managed to reach out to over 750 people in a span of five days.
Our campaign 20/200 is off to a great start in 2018, as a reminder, if we sell 200 of our mobile, battery powered refrigerators and freezers in 2018, then we will donate 20 units in March 2018 rather than the two units we do each year. Spread the word for us, do you know a medical team that would benefit from our mobile, battery powered refrigerators?
